I have experienced many vets in Malaysia. Not everyone is inept. We adore the team at Heshmaels Animal clinic. Dr Susanna of AsiaPaws is an angel. I have heard good things of Dr Prem, Dr Dom, Dr Teoh and am sure there are many others.

I posted that as an well thought out verbal lashing against Dr Mervyn and his associate. And none of it is false.

Hey all,

I believe this happened a year ago,but recently it’s been flaring up in the local newspapers.

The vet sector are not as established as the American,Brits or Aussies.Heck,we’re even behind Singapore.But I think it’s too harsh to say that our vets have no compassion based on one’s experiences. Can we say all Malaysian doctors don’t deserve the credit based on one bad doctor?

Think about it? If you want change for a better future,constructive criticism is worthwhile,whilst mindless accusations are a falacy.

Thanks for the moral support too. Glad I’m not the only one who has poor experiences with vets.

This is heart-rending. The last thing we need when frantic about beloved and ill pets is a callous vet. That’s one clinic crossed permanently off my list. My condolences, Alicia!

It’s repulsive to know that some vets have no compassion at all although it’s not exactly surprising.

I’m sorry about Akiko. It’s certainly quite unexpected. I hope Laika won’t have the same fate

Yup. There was a time in Malacca I took a tiny kitten to the vet for a checkup. I told him the cat was too weak for vacc shots and just to give him some vitamins and deworming. The plan was to take him home, keep him warm, feed him up for a week and THEN do the vacs. But the bloody bugger injected him without my permission and killed him. And wasn’t even bothered. “just get another one” was his answer. “It’s not like it was a pedigre.”

Then there was the bitch who said she was a vet – and turned out to be the wife of the vet.

Then there was the vet who overcharged me for 7 years.

Me, I think the profession needs a good kick up the arse.

I have a very short list of good vets. And am willing to share!

I am so sorry to hear about Akiko. Condolences just aren’t enough so I’m sending you a big hug via broadband.

I really felt the frustration in your post trying to get to Hand N Paws. What a bunch of numbskulls if they can’t even direct people to their clinic.

As for Dr Mervyn, thanks for the heads up. I certainly won’t be calling Hand N Paws for veterinary help.

And in future, if you are looking for something in PJ, please feel free to call me just in case I know where it is. If I do, I give excellent road directions. Failing which I would go meet you somewhere and lead you to the location myself.
