Looking for a Pedigree Pet?

Recently I have received a lot of phone calls from people want to buy cats and dogs.  I explained that Pet Epicure only has cat and dogs for adoption.  We do not sell animals.  The reactionsI got ranged from disappointed to baffled.  A pet shop that doesn’t sell animals?  What?

Well, we’re technically a pet boutique.   We were hoping this distinction would help to indicate the no-selling-animals policy.  Guess It isn’t that obvious :)

Anyway, I understand how difficult it is for people to buy pedigreed animals from ethical breeders.  There is lots of exhortion to buy only from ethical breeders who want to better their breed.  Breeders who show and care for confirmation, line diversity and the health and longevity of their stock.   However, just where and how do we find them?  Even I have faced this dilemma before.

So I’ve decided to add a section here to feature breeders.  I will include breeders that I feel are serious about what they do.  While I know this is far from comprehensive and foolproof (I am human and can make mistakes), I hope this can be a good starting point for people looking for pedigreed pets.  For those of you who are impatient, please look at the links to the cat breeders on the front page.  The catteries I’ve listed are ones I know of personally.  While I haven’t hadthe pleasure of visiting each and everyone, I know the poeple behind them and I know how they treat their animals.
